What is Arvigo Mayan Abdominal Therapy?
A technique originating from Central America practiced by women and shamans and further developed and shared by Dr Rosita Arvigo, ND. It is a slow, gentle external massage technique of the abdomen and lower back that works to soften the muscles and adjust the abdominal and pelvic organs to proper position. The work enhances circulation of blood, lymphatic fluids and energy flow and is beneficial for nervous system regulation, digestive health, and general wellness. It is a holistic modality useful for women who still have a uterus and experience painful menstruation, fertility issues, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, low backache, prolapse, post-cesarean birth healing and pre or post-operatively for pelvic healing.
How do you assist post-partum?
I offer a unique approach for new mothers designed to revitalize your root/pelvis after birth. This work and healing helps bring insight, allowing, and letting go to resolve and tend to post-partum health concerns such as pelvic pain, discomfort, or muscle weakness. Women who have experienced trauma during childbirth find that restoring pelvic balance aids their recovery. Let yourself experience this nourishing treatment in the heart of your mothering place.
Do I have to receive intra-vaginal work to benefit?
Working intra-vaginally is not a requirement, however there are many tissues and structures that are only accessible through the vaginal canal. In our work together, we will decide if this is a good option for your care. If we do decide that working vaginally is appropriate, I take great care to gently and respectfully follow the lead of your body- listening to verbal and physical cues to guide the depth and direction of the hands on work.

Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept medical insurance, as the medical insurance contracts do not reimburse me for the amount of time that I spend with you. Insurance companies are generally organized and financially successful for big clinics with aids, assistants, and working with multiple patients in multiple rooms at one time. My practice is one on one time with me for an hour to an hour and a half depending upon the needs.
I will, however, if you need- provide you with a Superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Do you only work with the pelvis?
I work throughout the body as the body is an interconnected. The breath and the pelvis are brilliant places to establish presence and greatly impact the function of the rest of the body. I work with neck, back, cervical, sacroiliac joint, shoulder, wrist, knees, etc…
